Think Back Thursday: Historical Sites
The theme for the May 31st Think Back Thursday was Historical Sites. When trying to decide what to post, I found some pictures of the day we went to the pioneer farm with several families from church. Boobear would have been just a month past her 15th birthday, while Supergirl and Turtlegirl were a month from their 13th birthdays. Tailorbear would have been 11.
The girls tried out the desks in the one room school house while Honeybear and another dad checked out a map of the Territories.
There were inside chores to experience such as kneading dough and grinding coffee. Tailorbear even tried on some of the clothes for a more authentic look.
There were animal chores as well. Here Tailorbear shows off the chicken she caught!
Though this was only 2 years ago, I am amazed at how much the girls have grown and changed. I think time really does move faster and faster the older I get.
This post is part of Debbie’s Think Back Thursday over at Debbie’s Digest!
I have to agree - time flies!! We visited a one room school house recently and now I want my own. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so great! I wonder if we have something like this in the Seattle area. My daughter would love it!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had fun. I too want my own one room school house Melissa! :) I guess a corner of the living room will have to do for now! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing indeed - I can't believe how much everyone has grown in the last two years :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks really fun, I want to do that someday :)
I really like the idea of posting about a past event! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place to visit! I would love to visit a one-room schoolhouse like that!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter's first piano teacher (who had also been my mom's piano teacher years ago) encouraged us to homeschool, and she compared it to her own one room school house experiences.
ReplyDeleteWow! Did they really have a huge piece of dough! That's awesome. I have a strict rule against looking a photos from even 6 months ago, ha!
ReplyDeleteFun memories!
ReplyDeleteBack when I was a public school teacher, my district to the entire third grade to a one room school house for an entire week. We all had to dress in period clothes (as best as we could), eat and pack period lunches (no ziplock baggies folks), play period games, have period lessons, and it was colonial style discipline. The kids would be naughty on purpose so they could wear the dunce cap. LOL
So great to have pictures to look back at over the years. Looks like a great day!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a ton of fun - wish I lived closer so I could visit too. I just realized my baby girl turns five soon and was glancing through old blog photos. Crazy ... how time flies by!!!
